Ear aches and ear infections can be a nuisance and running to the doctor’s office and waiting can be the last thing you want to do. Why not treat it at home with common ingredients you have on hand. There is no need to use harmful antibiotics for a simple ear ache.
Causes of Ear Aches
Excess Ear Wax
“Swimmers Ear” (water in the ear especially after the pool)
Pain near jaw, throat or sinuses
Olive Oil /Tea Tree Oil: Place several drops of tea tree oil with 1 tsp of olive oil. Mix the two solutions in a syringe. Tilt head to opposite side with the affected ear facing upward, place a few drops and save the rest of solution for later use. This will help relieve the pain and help if there is an infection. Leave in for two minutes and tilt head (affected ear facing down) and clean excess oil out of ear. Repeat at least 3 times per day until ear ache is gone.
Hydrogen Peroxide: Use a syringe to avoid a mess when putting it on the ear. Tilt head to the opposite side and leave for 2 minutes then drain it out. You will feel and hear it bubbling which s normal. Repeat twice per day.
Cold or Warm Compresses: helps to alleviate pain and inflammation. 10 minutes on the affected side, several times per day.
Most ear aches can be managed at home and can take 3-10 days to go away. Antibiotics are not always necessary in treating this; but if the symptoms persist or worsen after several days of natural treatment, you may want to pay a visit to a physician before the infection spreads further.
