What is a Stye? It is a small, painful lump on the outside or inside of the eyelid. It is actually an abscess filled with pus mainly caused by staphylococcus bacteria.
- Warm compresses
- Tea bag compresses
- Tea tree oil
- Lavender oil
Warm compresses and tea bag compresses are when you apply a wash cloth or tea bag tolerably warm from water for 5 minutes or until desired. Be careful when using the essential oils. They must be diluted with water preferably with a Q-tip and rinse eyelid thoroughly. (Dilute 1 drop of oils with 4 oz. of water) Do NOT have your wide open when applying diluted oils.
Throw out contact lenses and change any towels or pillowcases you’ve used.
Throw away any eye make up and clean your makeup brushes.
Do not try to pop the stye or wear make up until it is gone. You will only make the stye worse. Keep eyelid clean and don’t touch it unless it is with a tissue.
